Why all the excitement?!


Genesis 3:15


  1. Because Satan, the old serpent, had triumphed over mankind and destroyed part of God’s work.

  2. He had introduced sin into the world Romans 5:12

  3. He had caused the fall of man or man’s sin that separated man from God, God’s special creation Genesis 3:24

  4. He had convinced God’s creation to join his rebellion against God 3:5, Romans 3:11-12

  5. He had brought unlimited suffering to the human race—cast out of the garden, condemned to die physically, spiritually, and eternally Revelation 20:14-15

  6. He had caused man to be separated from God for all eternity

  7. He had deceived man into choosing death over life

  8. He had convinced man to trust his own mind-choosing right from wrong—over trusting God who had provided everything for him 3:4

  9. Separated the human race into two groups or seeds—3:15


  1. God promised a champion and victory from the very beginning

  2. The tempter will be punished

  3. God was to miraculously allow the seed of the woman to be that champion Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 9:6-7

  4. The death of this special one was also prophesied in his bruising Isaiah 53:10

  5. Remember it was only a bruise to the heel John 10:17-18, Revelation 12:9

  6. Adam by faith believed the promise Genesis 3:20—named his wife the mother of all living after being told he was to die


  1. The Christmas story is the fulfillment of this promise Genesis 3:15

  2. God sent angels to announce the birth—heavenly messengers—to Joseph, Mary, the shepherds

  3. God miraculously fulfilled promises by causing Mary to be with child without being touched by a man Matthew 1:25

  4. God himself put on human flesh John 1:14

  5. Two saints awaited his coming

  6. Luke 2:25, 30 Simeon

  7. Luke 2:36, 38

  8. At His coming, many chose not to receive Him John 1:11-13

  9. He overcame sin, death, the grave to give us victory Revelation 1:18

  10. He paid for sin to take us to God I Peter 3:18

Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:


Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.


Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.


Mat 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.


Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.


Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

Joh 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.


Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.


Mat 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.


Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Luk 2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

Luk 2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

Luk 2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Luk 2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Luk 2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

Luk 2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Luk 2:31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

Luk 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.


Luk 2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with a husband seven years from her virginity;

Luk 2:37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

Luk 2:38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.


Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Joh 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.


Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.


1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
