Israel and the Church



To properly understand the Scriptures, you must be able to distinguish differences.

For example, all humans are the creation of God, but not all are the children of God (sons or family of God).

Jews, Gentiles, and the church are distinct.

I Corinthians 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

For this study, I want you to see that Israel in the Scriptures is not the same as the church. They are distinct.

Israel is the wife of God the Father Isaiah 54, and the church is the bride of Christ Ephesians 5:22-33

Israel fought physical wars with nations and peoples while the church is engaged in spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:10-20

Israel is revealed in the Old Testament, but the church is unknown till the New Testament and was a mystery, hidden until the New Testament. Ephesians 3:3-6

Israel had the priesthood from the tribe of Levi. In the church, all believers are priests. Revelation 1:6 I Peter 2:5, 9

A Jew is physically birthed while the church is spiritual birth John 3 Titus 3:5

Israel is an actual nation Psalm 147:20 with borders and a capital. The church is not a nation but a pilgrim and foreigner from all nations on their way to their heavenly home. Romans 10:19, Galatians 3:28, Ephesians 2:11-22, 3:6, 15, I Peter 2:11

Israel has the king subject relationship Isaiah 33:22 while the church has a head, Christ, and a bridegroom Ephesians 5:22-33

Israel has earthly kingdom promises while the church has spiritual kingdom promises.
