Guided by the True God

Jeremiah 10:6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; Thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

1. We are not to learn the way of the world Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, And be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; For the heathen are dismayed at them.

2. As believers, we do not accept astrology or the signs of heaven

3. We do not learn our worship from the world

4. They believe that worship is about something that they do Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: For one cutteth a tree out of the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

5. They make a God as they would imagine him to be or as they would want him Jeremiah 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; They fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

6. A man made God, can never do anything for you Jeremiah 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: They must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, Neither also is it in them to do good.

7. The world can’t tell you about marriage

8. The world rejects God’s view of marriage

9. God created two and the world rejects God by putting forth other forms of marriage

10. The world can’t tell you how to raise your children

11. The world wants your kids to think of this world

12. They want your children to pursue pleasure, power, popularity, prosperity, any thing or anyone but God

13. The world can’t tell you how to handle your money

14. The world wants money to be your god

15. They say money makes the world turn

16. They say money can buy joy, peace, and happiness

17. The world can’t tell you about God and worship

18. Their worship is to make them feel good and positive

19. Their worship is to use God, not obey Him

20. Their worship is about them and not God

21. How often are you falling into the trap of thinking like the world?

22. How much bad advice have you accepted?

23. If you teach your children about God that is not right or good

24. Honoring God with your money is a mistake

25. What is right or wrong?

26. Women’s right to abort a baby

27. People born homosexual

28. Living for this world and forgetting the next

29. How could anyone worship another God if they know the God of the Bible?

30. There is only one God like God Jeremiah 10:6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; Thou art great, and thy name is great in might. 7 Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? for to thee doth it appertain: Forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.

31. All other gods are man made

32. Those who worship and make other gods, are foolish brutes Jeremiah 10:8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: The stock is a doctrine of vanities.

33. The men who make them, are brutes but still smarter than their gods Jeremiah 10:9 Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, And gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: Blue and purple is their clothing: They are all the work of cunning men.

34. The true God is alive forever Jeremiah 10:10 But the Lord is the true God, He is the living God, and an everlasting king: At his wrath the earth shall tremble, And the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

35. Entire countries will feel and know the power of God

36. The man made, false gods, will be destroyed Jeremiah 10:11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

37. The true God is the Creator God Jeremiah 10:12 He hath made the earth by his power, He hath established the world by his wisdom, And hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.

38. While cunning men made the false gods, God made the earth by His own power

39. He set up the world and spread the heavens

40. The creation by God makes it clear who God is

41. God controls the weather Jeremiah 10:13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, And he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; He maketh lightnings with rain, And bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

42. Compare the power, intelligence, and ability of the God that made man to the man made gods

43. Do you forget who our God is and step towards other gods including being covetous?

44. Notice the condition of man

45. All men are brutes Jeremiah 10:14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: Every founder is confounded by the graven image: For his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

46. Obviously idol makers are brutes, the word means stupid

47. The word means insensible, stupid, gross, savage, unfeeling, ignorant, untaught, uncivilized

48. All men know nothing and can’t understand God

49. We can’t get to God or get God to come to us

50. There is no comparison between God and man that can make man look good

51. The proof of the foolishness of man is the gods he makes Jeremiah 10:14 Every founder is confounded by the graven image: For his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

52. Their gods are empty and worthless and can’t handle a crisis Jeremiah 10:15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: In the time of their visitation they shall perish.

53. The created man has turned from his creator to what he can create or invent

54. Man has attempted to make a god that fits his plans and image

55. Remember that the entire story of man is his failure

56. In the garden of eden

57. Before the flood

58. The nation of Israel

59. The church

60. Man will fail even in the millennial kingdom

61. God will punish His people because they know better

62. God came first and made Israel Jeremiah 10:16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: For he is the former of all things; And Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The Lord of hosts is his name.

63. God is not like the false gods

64. He is before all things

65. He made Israel and Israel did not make Him

66. Since they choose other gods, God will throw them out Jeremiah 10:17 Gather up thy wares out of the land, O inhabitant of the fortress. 18 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, And will distress them, that they may find it so.

67. God’s people will be wounded and in grief Jeremiah 10:19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous: But I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.

68. Homes will be destroyed Jeremiah 10:20 My tabernacle is spoiled, and all my cords are broken: My children are gone forth of me, and they are not: There is none to stretch forth my tent any more, And to set up my curtains.

69. Do you realize that we are responsible for more because we know more? Luke 12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

70. Spiritual leaders are stupid but Jeremiah doesn’t want to be

71. The pastors became stupid Jeremiah 10:21 For the pastors are become brutish, And have not sought the Lord: Therefore they shall not prosper, And all their flocks shall be scattered.

72. They didn’t seek the Lord

73. Obviously, they began to believe in themselves and their abilities

74. They failed to work on their walk with God and all was lost

75. We need God’s direction Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

76. God has promised to guide His people, this is when they are obeying God, Biblical fasting Isaiah 58:11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, And satisfy thy soul in drought, And make fat thy bones: And thou shalt be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

77. His direction comes by the intimacy we have with Him Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

78. Recognize that God is directing the steps of those that love Him Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: And he delighteth in his way.

79. Ordered means established, made steadfast and sure

80. God brags about the steps, the direction, of the man that loves God

81. Direction comes from the Word of God Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path.

82. Recognize God for who He is in your live and He will direct, and work in your life Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.

83. God speaks in a still small voice I Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

84. He does lead His people Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

85. We need to ask God to discipline us Jeremiah 10:24 O Lord, correct me, but with judgment; Not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

86. Ask God to reserve His anger for the heathen Jeremiah 10:25 Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, And upon the families that call not on thy name: For they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, And have made his habitation desolate.

87. Be sure to get the right spiritual leaders in your life

88. Be sure to seek God and His direction for your life

89. Be ready for God to correct, discipline, train, chastise you
