Cleansed by the Blood

Leviticus 13-15
Disease is a picture of sin many times Isaiah 1:5-6, Jeremiah 30:12, Mark 2:17
God promised to bless His people and keep them from having the diseases of Egypt Deuteronomy 7:12-15
Jesus is our Great Physician and His stripes we are healed Isaiah 53:5
Comparing the disease to sin, chapter 13
The person doesn’t determine if they are sick or not
Rather the man of God according to God’s Word
The word “pronounce” is used 20 times in chapters 13-14-13:3, 6, 8
It is not up to you to determine what is sin today-again we turn to the Word of God to see what He calls sin
Sin wasn’t a superficial or surface problem but was “deeper than the skin” 13:3, 4
Sin is a heart problem Jeremiah 17:9
It is against nature, our flesh to be good Romans 7:18
Sin spreads 13:5-7
The word “spread” is used 19 times in chapters 13-14
When sin finishes it brings forth death James 1:15
Sin defiles or contaminates, pollutes 13:44-46-New Testament we are told to not touch the unclean thing II Corinthians 6:17
Sin separates 13:45-46
The garment stained with sin had to be burned 13:52, 55, 57
Comparing the cleansing to salvation, chapter 14
The sinner or leper can’t come but the priest goes to him where he is 14:1-3
The priest determines if the person has been healed or not
Jesus came to us outside the camp-in isolation and punishment (death) to bring us to God
You do not get saved on your terms but His-You do not decide if you are saved or not-He does
Two birds are offered in sacrifice 13:4-7
One was killed in an earthen vessel-a bird from the heavens bound in an earthen or clay vessel-sounds like Jesus taking on human flesh 13:4
The other bird was let go in a field and flew off victorious but blood covered 13:6-7
The blood was applied to the diseased one 13:7
Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission Hebrews 9:22
The diseased is pronounced clean by the priest 13:7-You have been pronounced clean I Corinthians 6:9-11
Now that he has been cleansed he is to clean up 13:8-9, Colossians 3:1-14, notice he cleaned up to the skin twice
The priest now offers sacrifices 14:10-32
he-lambs, one ewe lamb, flour, oil, etc for an offering
Reminds us of all that Christ has done for us again
This is worship service-remembering, praising, sacrificing
The cleansed leper is treated like a priest 14:14, etc
The poor bring whatever they are able to get 14:21-22, 30-31
Dealing with issues as the people of God chapter 15
The word “issue” is used 24 times in this chapter
God obviously is teaching them to take care about the possible contamination from disease and the spreading of diseases
What they sit on is unclean 15:4
Who sits where the one with the issue sat becomes unclean 15:5-6
The word issues refers to a flow of liquid from body whether for natural or unnatural causes
Meaning a lady’s cycle
Sexual relations
To some sort of disease
Natural issues could be cleansed with water and time 15:7
Clay pots had to be broken from the contamination 15:12
Sacrifices were to be made 15:29-30
We can always be forgiven
We are constantly running to our high priest in confession and seeking His face
The point is that you have been made holy and now it is time to live holy and clean 15:31
