Biblical Communication 5

Slander or talebearing is one of the ways people reveal secrets. Talebearers, gossips can’t be trusted with a secret. We want to think that we are faithful and would conceal the matter but so often the thrill of knowing causes us to speak when we know we shouldn’t. Let’s all put off talebearing or gossiping and put on as believers the faithful spirit that conceals matters. Proverbs 11:13 We want to have tongues of the wise that speak health not hurt.

Too often we use rash words that cut and main. They are like stabbing people with a sword. Proverbs 12:18 Wise people speak words that bring healing. I want to speak and act like the wise.

We often think that a sharp tongue and stiff response is what we need to use as leaders. We think “I set him straight” or “I told him” but what we don’t realize is that many times we do more harm than good. With out even realizing it many times we say hurtful and mean things.

We want God to help us have a wholesome, edifying tongue. A tongue that offers words that heal and help and not those that cut and maim. We need God to build new character in us because in the world the tongue is used as a selfish and destructive weapon. We have to put that away and put on the kind and gentle tongue. We do not want to be defensive,

argumentative, antagonistic but to speak with the sweetness of the Lord Jesus. God forgive me again for all my failure in this. I want to use pleasant word that are sweet to the soul and health to the bones. Proverbs 15:4
