A look at "with-ness!"

Wait to start your Bible College 2

Jesus' principle way of training men was with-ness. He was together with His disciples. They caught it. Truth is more caught than taught. This little study is one of the reasons the missionary should consider how he will train young men. He should also consider waiting to start a Bible College. Bible College is not how Jesus taught men. Bible College is a good substitute, but the best way to train is like Jesus did it. That is life on life, togetherness, with-ness as a means of training.

I include several verses for you to consider with-ness. I challenge you to invest time in the lives of your men. Do more than teaching an academic class.

Mark 3:14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach

Matthew 26:20 Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

Matthew 26:36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

Mark 3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

Mark 8:10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.

Mark 11:11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.

Luke 6:17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

Luke 7:11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Luke 8:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

Luke 9:18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

John 3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

John 6:3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

John 11:54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

John 18:1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples. 2 And Judas also, which betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus ofttimes resorted thither with his disciples.

Matthew 26:69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

Matthew 26:71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

Mark 16:10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.

Luke 22:28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

John 14:25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

The Scriptures are nearly redundant with the fact of Jesus being with His disciples. As you consider starting your Bible College, please wait. Wait until you aren't able to have the personal touch as Jesus had. It will probably grow but until it does, do what Jesus did!
